Henry Fayol's Principle

Hello friends...
We had discussed the trick to remember the 14 principles of Henry Fayol in our previous post.And today we are going to explain the concepts of Henry Fayol's principle in brief.
As we know that there are 14 principles of Henry Fayol.Let us now talk about each one of them one by one:

PRINCIPLES OF HENRY FAYOL

1-DIVISION OF WORK:
The whole work should be divided into small parts.Each part should be assign to a single person who may be seen expert in that particular task.

2-AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY:
Authority and responsibility are combinations of two words:
Authority + Responsibility
   where, authority=power to work
          responsibility=give the work

*As per the principle,the authority and responsibility should be hand in hand.

3-DISCIPLINE:
"Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment"
Discipline means rules and regulations.It should be followed by all either superior or subordinate.
                     

4-UNITY OF COMMAND:
There should be only one BOSS  or subordinate.
*From whom the superior would be receiving an order.
*And who will be responsible for everything.
                   

5-CENTRALIZATION AND DECENTRALIZATION:
Centralization and decentralization are combination of two words i.e.,
Centralization means power of making decision with one person,
Decentralization means dispersal of power of making decision among more than one person.
According to Fayol,there should proper balance between centralization and decentralization.

6-UNITY OF DIRECTION:
Group with some objective must have one head on plan.

7-SUBORDINATION OF INDIVIDUAL INTEREST TO GENERAL INTEREST:
*Interest of the organization take priority over individual interest.
*The responsibility of every manager is to try to reconcile both the interest.
*If not,then sacrifice the personal interest.
                     
                   
 8-SCALAR CHAIN:
It is the formal line of authority from highest rank to the lowest rank.As shown in the picture-
* Gang Plank is the shorter route in scalar chain which allow at the same level of employee to communicate with each other.
                   

9-REMUNERATION TO EMPLOYEES:
According to Fayol Remuneration should be fair
*it should be reasonable
*it should be satisfactory
                 

10-ORDER:
Order can be types:
a.SOCIAL ORDER (Social order-Arrangement of people)
b.MATERIAL ORDER (Material order-arrangement of things)

*It is related to arrangement of things and people.
*There should be a suitable place for everything and everyone.

11-INITIATIVE:
*Worker should be encouraged to develop and carry out their plans for improvement.
*It is the first step taken by employees toward their self motivation.

12-STABILITY OF TENURE OF PERSONNEL:
*Employee turnover should be minimized to maintain organizational efficiency.
*There should be appropriate security of job.
*Unnecessary turnover increase wastage of resources.

13-EQUITY:
*Manager should be kind and fair for their workers.
*There should be no discrimination on the basis of sex,caste,religion,belief,etc.
*It brings loyalty to the organization.
*Its application requires good sense,experience and good nature.

14-ESPIRIT DE CORPS:
*It is the principle of union and strength.
*Management should promote a team spirit of unity and harmony among employees.
